English Paper 2 I went in the exam with three prepared essays. I reasoned with myself that not all three questions were going to fit my essay perfectly, but I should get at least one. None of the questions matched my essays and I was sitting there in disbelief because all of the questions were yuck. For me, the best to worst would be Module C, B then A. Module A: A deeper understanding of disruption and identity emerges from considering the parallels between Frankenstein & Blade Runner. Compare how these texts explore disruption and identity. I had based my essay on how both texts explore the issue of humanity and how this reflected changing values and perspectives and linked it to their contexts. I was stumped as to what 'disruption' was (seriously like WTF?) so in the end I linked identity with humanity and the disruption with the 'disruption' to nature... as did some other people I talked to after the exam (y) Module B: Through its portrayal of human experience, Shakespeare's Hamlet reinforces the significance of loyalty. To what extent does your interpretation of Hamlet support this view? I was screwed because I had based my essay around the theme of humanity and mortality and I wasn't sure what the 'human experience' part of the question was referring to. I ended up taking advantage of the 'to what extent' and wrote instead of loyalty, its portrayal of human experience reinforces the significance of humanity and mortality. I asked my teacher if what I did was OK after and she gave me the 'it's probably better if you didn't' look. Lol good work! Module C: Analyse the ways history and memory generate compelling and unexpected insights. In your response, make detailed reference to your prescribed text and at least ONE other related text of your own choosing. I was frustrated that they did not ask anything about the INTERPLAY of history and memory as that is what I based my essay on and that's what I believed the whole module was about. Simply, I thought this question was shitty but managed to work my essay around it. I wasn't sure if what I was doing was right though haha Today I went library with Shirley to study maths. Had lunch with her, Luke and Simon and then went back to study more. It was also good to see Janette going home and make plans for the days after we finish exams and also, thank so much for the gift wrapping job! <3 "I can picture how we touching and, kiss I can almost taste..." |
